Internal Auditor

This position is responsible for carrying out internal audit activities to provide independent and objective assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of the Bank’s governance, risk management and internal control systems. The role involves conducting risk-based audits, preparing audit reports, and monitoring the implementation of audit recommendations to strengthen compliance and improve operational efficiency across the Bank.

Key responsibilities:

• Carry out internal audit activities, including conducting risk-based reviews and supporting the implementation of audit recommendations.
• Prepare audit reports and communicate findings to management for review and action.
• Review and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
• Execute the annual internal audit workplan and follow up on audit recommendations.
• Maintain professional standards by supporting continuous improvement, compliance and good governance practices.

To be eligible for this position, the applicant must meet the following:

• At least a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field from a recognized institution. A Master’s degree in a related field from a recognized institution will be an advantage;
• Minimum 3 years of work experience in a similar accounting or finance role.
• Proven experience using Accounting management system, following financial procedures, and preparing reports for management (experience with the Accredo Accounting system will be an advantage).
• Good numeracy, multitasking abilities, attention to detail, and accounting systems.
• Strong English and Tongan communication skills in both written and oral communication, including report writing.
