The National Reserve Bank of Tonga (NRBT) welcomed the support of the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) in delivering the Financial Intelligence Analysis Course in Nuku’alofa for the Government agencies in Tonga, with the support of the Australian Federal Police, reinforcing national capacity to combat the prevalence of financial crimes in Tonga. The training started on Monday 23rd - 27th March 2026 at Tanoa Hotel.

Deputy Governor ‘Ungatea Latu stated “conducting the training here in Nuku’alofa has provided over 20 local participants, including some of our financial institutions, with practical skills to identify suspicious transactions, strengthen financial intelligence analysis, and support effective investigation and prosecution of money laundering and related financial crimes” to support our Transaction Reporting Authority (TRA), Tonga Police, Ministry of Trade and Economic Development, Ministry of Revenue & Customs, Attorney General’s Office, and Ministry of Infrastructure – Maritime joint efforts to combat financial crimes.
