The Public is hereby notified that the National Reserve Bank of Tonga will release into circulation its 2020 series of $50 banknote bearing the signatures of the Prime Minister Pōhiva Tu’i’onetoa, Minister of Finance Tēvita Lavemaau and Governor of the Reserve Bank Sione Ngongo Kioa.

The National Reserve Bank of Tonga would like to REMIND any person or businesses who are conducting moneylending business without a license to contact the National Reserve Bank of Tonga immediately for licensing procedures and be licensed with the National Reserve Bank of Tonga by Friday 29th January 2021.

The Public is hereby notified that the National Reserve Bank of Tonga will release into circulation its 2018 series of $50 banknote bearing the signatures of the late Prime Minister 'Akilisi Pohiva, the former Minister of Finance, Pohiva Tu'i'onetoa and Governor of the Reserve Bank, Sione Ngongo Kioa.

The National Reserve Bank (Reserve Bank) would like to inform the general public that the Reserve Bank Board of Directors approved the revised Bank Licence Application Forms (Forms 1 - 4) to be effective on the 1st August, 2019, mainly to enhance the information required for the reviewing process of bank license applications.

The National Reserve Bank of Tonga would like to advise the general public, businesses, super markets and companies to return and exchange such mutilated coins either at the Reserve Bank or to a Commercial Bank to be exchanged with good quality coins.

The National Reserve Bank of Tonga wishes to inform the general public that the Reserve Bank has not received any report of a 1 Pa’anga counterfeit coin.
